Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is a model of supported employment for people with serious mental health disorders (e.g., schizophrenia spectrum disorder, bipolar, depression). IPS supported employment helps people living with behavioral health conditions work at regular jobs of their choosing. Although variations of supported employment exist, IPS refers to the evidence-based practice of supported employment. Source: https://ipsworks.org/index.php/what-is-ips/
1. Increase awareness of the availability of IPS services
2. Increase the number of participants in IPS programs
3. Increase the number of participants who gain employment
4. Increase the amount of time employed
The overall goal is to increase health and happiness and reduce substance misuse through the achievement of meaningful employment.
The LSF Health Systems’ IPS program is currently operating in two counties. Partners include Clay Behavioral Health Center in Clay county and Peace River Center in Polk County.
LSF was awarded a grant from Simply Healthcare Plans to advance Individual Placement and Support (IPS) awareness and education throughout the state of Florida. The funding will be used to provide financial support, public awareness campaigns, and to fill the gap in service needs that will support housing, transportation, and other costs associated with finding and maintaining meaningful employment.
To learn more about the program and how you can participate, please contact Jennifer Schreiber, Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Trainer at jennifer.schreiber@lsfnet.org or at 316-519-0917.
